Fleece
Hotel - Selkirk - Scotland
Our way went through the wonderful landscapes of the Borders via Moffat straight to Selkirk.
In front of the Fleece Hotel a Northumbrian piper welcomed us and members of the Club in dresses of the time around 1875 gathered for a group-photo. After that Dame Jean Maxwell-Scott, Patron of the D.D.T.C., welcomed the touring Dandie friends in the guestroom of the hotel. And there she unveiled a plaque in memory of the founding of the D.D.T.C. in 1875.
The local press was attending too and deemed that event in Selkirk worthy to publish a special article and photo in the following day's newspaper. Afterwards we have been asked for lunch we took together with the guests of honour, among them Ferelith Somerfield
Having had some opportunities for photos to remember our bus tour led us to Abbotsford House. It was there that Sir Walter Scott lived, worked and where he wrote the well known novel "Guy Mannering", the tale of the Borders and of James Davidson as Dandie Dinmont and his Pepper and Mustard Terriers.
