The Dandie Dinmont Terrier in Hungary

At present there is only one active kennel in Hungary. Beyond that it has been very difficult to get information as to the beginning of breeding Dandies in Hungary.

The first entry in the Hungarian Stud Book was: Met Ddt. 1/92 Registration 1992.03.02. The first breeder was Dr. Péter Pázmány. The first litter fell the mating of Terrinka Fallow Fell x Salicia's Terrence Traveller.

A further breeder had been named in Hungary: Dr. Michl. No further information on his breedings were not achievable.

Susanne and Benedek Benkö, the presently active breeders, got their first Dandie in 1995 out of the Hungarian breeding Dr. Michl. In 1997 they registered their kennel under the suffix "Ibolya-Közi". Since then they regularly breed and exhibit with success. In 1998 a mustard dog had been imported from Finland, which in the time to come showed to be an excellent hereditor. Offsprings have been exported to several countries of Europe and to the USA.
