My Dandies

Herr Braml und ViktoriaOur philosophy of keeping dogs: The is the best friend of men - but he is an even better friend if he is in company of his kind. That is why we always have had two dogs. Considering all the playing, the keeping busy and going for a walk with a dog - he will learn the common packing only from his fellow dogs. Especially for young dogs there is nothing better than to fight and run around with a partner dog and to share the basket pressed to each other.

Our home is situated in Meggenhofen, a small town near the Highway Suben-Wels, amidst the outskirts of the "Welser Heide". In summer there are large fields of corn around the house and in winter there are huge snow-drifts

Tiffany "of Wild Orchids"In former times we have bred - as a hobby - longhaired Miniature Teckels. Because the breed of the Dandie Dinmont Terrier pleased so much - as do many others too - we got our first Dandie about 18 years ago. That was the extraordinary "Dalida von Beerenkamp". From that time on we always had two Dandies.

Our late Dandie bitch "Jil" died of aneurysm in the age of only twenty months. "Tiffany", fifteen months of age and very vivacious thus lost her beloved playmate. We could see her deep sorrow - all over house and garden she looked for her "Jil". Now being alone "Tiffany" seemed to be lost. Yes, she accepted our "help" - but it simply was not the same. Tiffany und ViktoriaWe knew only a second dog would tear "Tiffany" from her lethargy and give her back her former gaiety.

The Dandie-Dinmont-Terrier is a rare breed, really. Where to get a real good puppy from that fast? Yet we had good advice: Already one hour after "Jil" had died we phoned Mrs Wirtz, the breeder of "Tiffany". We were and we still are very grateful to her for recognising our calamity; she gave us "Viktoria", a bitch she originally had destined for her own breedings. "Tiffany's" as well as our spiritual welfare was secured! We were complete again!

Please note: "Tiffany" has already mastered several dog shows despite her wild and free country life. We are sure "Tiffany" will teach our little "Viktoria" to enjoy the shows as cool and interested as she does.
