In Memory Of 1999

Death is grievous for those who have to witness a comrade departing from us, a comrade having accompanied us through our life for many years and whom we grew fond of.

However, death belongs to life and our Creator did not provide for a life without death.

Death may be a recall from an accomplished life or even a salvation from disease and long illness.

Considering this, we depart from our beloved dog in deep mourning, keeping in mind all the lovely memories that will remain in our hearts firm and forever.

The grave of Humphrey

It is with Humphrey that we do loose a charming, honest and loyal comrade. Up to his peaceful death on October 22nd - just a few after his 13th birthday - he endured his in the end total darkness with patience and unbroken will of life. He was always sure of the love, care and affection of all of our family. Day by day anew, he gave us and showed us his joy and sympathy, his loyalty and contentment.

In the age of 17 months Humphrey came to us by intervention of his breeders Jackie and Billy Shore. Imported for breeding and to be shown on exhibitions he very soon became a first-class stud dog. Already his first descendent, "German Dandies' Earl of Speedy", was a top dog - with "Ch.Daphne von Beerenkamp" as mother - thus emphasising his extraordinary hereditary factors.

Humphrey was a star on exhibitions, as a better you could not imagine. He did never disappoint us; he the perfect dog for exhibitions. In all the years exhibiting him we always could relay on him.

In 1987 he had been on shows for 46 (!) times in the Youth Class with his first owner, Mrs Few. We on our side then presented him on 76 exhibitions in total, in 18 countries under 54 different judges. In 1989 Humphrey became Vice World Winner in Copenhagen, in 1990 Vice-World Winner in Brno, in 1991 World Winner in Dortmund, in 1992 World Winner in Valencia, and 1995 Best Veteran on the World Winner Exhibition of Brussels. He was the most successful imported dog of all times in Germany. We do not want to enumerate his numerous titles at this place; they are listed in our Kennel-History .

There are many an anecdote and adventure to be told of and on Humphrey. Up to his very last day he was full of dignity and love without conditions towards his human beings, he really was a gentleman and a careful father - quite an extraordinary Dandie.

Humphrey's letzte Ruhestätte

Humphrey has honourably been buried in our garden. His tombstone made of the Scottish Border will remind us of his memory. Never we will forget Humphrey.
